PART 9 - TRANSFERS, TRAVELLING AND WORKING AWAY FROM USUAL PLACE OF WORK 

29. TRAVELLING TIME AND ALLOWANCE

29.1 Travel away from home base

If an employee is required to travel on duty away from his or her home base:

29.1.1 the employee is entitled to meal and travelling allowances in accordance with the Company policy manuals;

29.1.2 the employee is entitled to a reimbursement of accommodation expenses unless accommodation of a reasonable standard is provided by the employer.

29.1.3 if the tour of duty is in excess of the employee’s normal shift length, the employee is entitled to a minimum rest break of ten hours following the employee’s return to home base.

29.2 Travelling time payments

Duty time must be calculated as followed:

29.2.1 International services

1.5 hours prior to scheduled departure time to one hour after actual time of arrival, departure or cessation of work, whichever is applicable.

29.2.2 Domestic services

One hour prior to scheduled departure time to 0.5 hour after actual time of arrival, departure or cessation of work, whichever is applicable.

29.3 Travel on rostered days off, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays

If an employee is required to travel on rostered days off, Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays, the employee must be paid at the appropriate penalty rate.

29.4 Travel away from home base for aircraft rectification

If an employee is required to travel on duty away from the employee’s home base for the purpose of aircraft rectification:

29.4.1 the employee must be paid in accordance with the employee’s home base roster;

29.4.2 the employee must be paid the appropriate penalty rate for all travel and/or time worked outside the employee’s normal rostered hours. If, however, return travel is undertaken after a ten hour break, that travel must be paid at ordinary time.

29.5 Station engineer

29.5.1 Where a LAME receives less than two days notice, payment for time spent travelling shall be in accordance with 29.4, Aircraft rectification.

29.5.2 Where a LAME receives two or more days notice, rest periods at the completion of travel as per Company manuals shall be granted.

29.6 Service engineer

Duty time shall be in accordance with 29.2. Payment will be at normal shift rates for normal shift length. Any time in excess of normal shift length shall be at appropriate penalty rates.
