16.2 Appointment to grading levels
The Company must determine the grading level to which an employee is appointed under this clause.
16.3 Any period of probation attached to an appointment would not normally exceed three months for existing staff and six months for new appointees. It may be necessary, however, to extend the probationary period of officers and if this occurs, then the probationary period shall not exceed six months for existing staff and 12 months for new appointees. At the end of that period, the appointees shall be given notice of confirmation of the appointment, or if the appointees are not confirmed, reasons will be given therefore.
16.4 New positions
Nothing in this award will be construed as limiting the Company’s right to create new positions or discontinue existing positions falling within the ambit of the salary ranges in clause 17 - Wage rates.
