19. PAYMENT OF WAGES

19.1 Full-time employees

Full-time employees must be paid weekly or fortnightly according to a weekly average of ordinary hours worked even though more or less than 38 ordinary hours may be worked, in any particular week of the work cycle.

19.2 Part-time and casual employees

In the case of a part-time or casual employee, wages must be paid weekly or fortnightly according to the actual hours worked each week or fortnight.

19.3 When wages are to be paid

19.3.1 All wages due must be paid in the employer’s time and not later than the end of an employee’s roster on Thursday in any week. However when the normal pay day falls on a public holiday all wages due must be paid on the working day immediately before the normal pay day.

19.3.2 When the Friday is a holiday, wages must be paid no later than Wednesday in that week.

19.3.3 Where an employee is kept waiting beyond the above specified times he or she must be paid waiting time at the rate of time and a half.

19.4 How wages are to be paid

19.4.1 Wages may be paid in cash or with written agreement by cheque or by electronic funds transfer.

19.4.2 Where payment is made by electronic funds transfer the employer must pay all bank charges associated with the payment.
