20. SPECIAL RATES AND ALLOWANCES

20.1 All purpose allowances

The following allowances will apply for all purposes of the award:

20.1.1 Foreperson/supervisor

A foreperson/supervisor will be paid no less than $1,888 in excess of the rate of the highest paid trades person, leading hand or relevant employee under their control, provided further that they will be paid no less than $945 per annum in excess of the base rate of the shift supervisor under their control.

20.1.2 Crouzet ticketing allowance

In addition to the rates of pay in clause 19 – Classifications and Salaries, a person involved in the operation of the Crouzet ticketing system will be paid the following allowance per shift:

20.1.3 TransAdelaide and the Unions will nominate the employees who are to receive the allowance in 20.1.2.

20.2 Other allowances – not all purpose

20.2.1 Cash handling allowance

Employees who handle $500 or more in cash on any one day of any one week will be paid an allowance of $2.00 per week for each week or part thereof that such work is performed.

20.2.2 On call allowance

An employee classified in the range of Salaried Employee Level 1 to Salaried Employee Level 5 inclusive will be entitled to receive an on call allowance subject to the following:

20.2.2(a) where an employee has agreed to be placed on call during a period when they are off work, then the employee will be entitled to be paid the following allowance:

20.2.2(a)(i) any night Monday to Friday inclusive except public holidays - $6.40 per night;

20.2.2(a)(ii) Saturday to Sunday, public holidays (day and night inclusive) $14.00 per day.

20.2.3 Meal allowance

Where an employee is required to work overtime for more than two hours without being notified on the previous day or earlier that they will be so required to work, a meal allowance of $11.05 will be paid.

20.2.4 Uniforms and protective clothing, equipment and footwear

20.2.4(a) An employee will be reimbursed for the purchase of a uniform and protective clothing, equipment and footwear (as applicable) where the employer has deemed that such items are required for work.

20.2.4(b) If the employer provides such items, reimbursement will not apply.

20.2.5 Higher duty allowance

Where an employee is required to undertake work carrying a higher rate than the employee’s substantive classification, they will be paid the higher rate for the time so worked, with the exception of employees classified Salaried Employee Level 6 and above for which the allowance is not applicable.

20.2.6 Travelling expenses

20.2.6(a) Employees required to travel on TransAdelaide business and who are absent from their home station overnight will be paid a per diem allowance prescribed by the following scale:

20.2.6(a)(i) Provided that employees regarded as shift workers will be entitled to receive for the first five weeks at the same place the rates herein prescribed for the first four weeks.

20.2.6(a)(ii) Provided further that this subclause will not apply to employees who are paid continuous working time but will be entitled to meal allowances in accordance with 20.2.6(d) below.

20.2.6(b) The allowances provided for in 20.2.6(a) above will be in addition to fares, necessarily and reasonably incurred.

20.2.6(c) The allowances prescribed in 20.2.6(a) above will be calculated on an hourly basis (to the nearest quarter hour) from the time of departure until the time of arrival.

20.2.6(d) Where employees are required to travel to areas outside of the extremities of TransAdelaide’s operations and are not absent overnight, they will be paid an allowance of $8.40 for each meal as follows:

20.2.6(d)(i) Provided that a meal allowance will only be payable to employees where a meal break is taken during absences from their headquarters.
