36. TRAVELLING, TRANSPORT AND FARES
36.1 Travelling time, allowance and board
36.1.1 If employees are required to work at a job away from their usual place of employment at the direction of Virgin Tech, the employee must present for work at that job at the usual time for starting work.
36.1.2 If employees are required to work away from their usual place of employment, they must be paid the following rates for all time reasonably spent by them in excess of the time they usually spend travelling to or from their home to the place of employment:

36.1.3 If an employee is engaged in a capital city to work in the country or another State; or sent from one country centre to work in another country centre the employee is entitled to travelling time and, for a period not exceeding three months, to reimbursement of all reasonable expenses including removal expenses of themselves, their spouse and dependents and such possessions and personal effects as approved by Virgin Tech in advance.

36.1.4 If employees are required to remain away from their home overnight, reasonable expenses include the cost of board and lodging or, in lieu thereof, a minimum payment of $95.49 per day will be paid by Virgin Tech.
36.1.5 For the purposes of this award time spent travelling will not be included in the employee’s ten hour break between periods of duty.
36.2 Where an employee is required to work as a service engineer, such that the employee will be away from their home base for more than three consecutive days, the following provisions will apply:
36.2.1 Subject to 36.2.4, 36.2.5 and 36.2.6, an employee will be paid as if the employee’s normal home base roster had continued.
36.2.2 An employee will be provided with travel and accommodation in accordance with 36.1.
36.2.3 A period of duty will not exceed 28 days’ duration. A 28 day period may be extended by a further fourteen days by mutual agreement.
36.2.4 Virgin Tech and employee may agree that the employee work on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and rostered days off. Should an employee so work, the employee will be paid ordinary time rates of pay for the time so worked and will be given time off at home base in lieu of time worked.
36.2.5 In addition to the days off prescribed in 36.2.4, an employee subject to this clause will accrue an entitlement to one day off with pay at home base for each three days away. For the purposes of determining accrued days off, any residual period of less than three days will be added to the next period of field work.
36.2.6 Time off accrued under 36.2.4 and 36.2.5 will be taken without loss of pay upon return to home base.
36.3 Change in place of employment
If an employee is required to work at a place other than his/her regular place of employment, Virgin Tech must pay the employee any additional fares incurred or provide the employee with transport.
