PART 7 - LEAVE OF ABSENCE AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
22. RECREATION LEAVE
22.1 Every full-time employee is entitled to twenty (20) working days recreation leave on full pay for each year of service, calculated at the rate of one and two-thirds days for each month of service.
22.2 The employee is entitled to take up to twenty working days recreation leave as a single continuous period.
22.3 Leave will be credited in advance on the first day of each January.
22.4 Where a public holiday to which the employee is entitled occurs whilst the employee is on recreation leave, no deduction is to be made for that day from the recreation leave credits of the employee.
22.5 Where an employee with accrued sick leave credits is ill whilst on recreation leave, the employee must be placed on sick leave and no deduction is to be made from recreation leave credits for those days. Evidence of illness must be provided in accordance with clause 24.4.
22.6 The time of taking recreation leave must be by mutual agreement between the employee and the Committee.
22.7 By mutual agreement between the Committee and the employee, an employee may accumulate recreation leave credits up to a maximum of forty working days. Such leave shall be taken at a mutually agreed time.
22.8 Recreation leave credits are not affected by taking Long Service Leave, and continue to accumulate during Long Service Leave.
22.9 Where an employee resigns, retires, is dismissed or otherwise terminates from employment the employee must receive payment in lieu of recreation leave accrued but not taken.
22.9.1 In the event of termination of employment due to the employee's death, such payment must be made to the legal representative of the employee.
22.9.2 In all instances payment in lieu must be for all recreation leave accrued for each year of service plus pro rata amount for the current year of service calculated on a daily basis.
