23. RECREATION LEAVE ALLOWANCE

23.1 All employees are entitled to an allowance at the rate of 17 ½ % of the remuneration of the employee for the period of recreation leave. The remuneration for the purposes of calculating this allowance is deemed to be the salary of the employee as at the first day of January of the year in which recreation leave is taken. The allowance is to be paid once annually on a date fixed by agreement between the Committee and the Union.

23.2 The maximum allowance payable can not exceed an amount calculated in respect of the salary rate prescribed for an Adult Education Officer 6.3 in Schedule 1 of this award at the first day of January in the year in which recreation leave is taken.

23.3 Where an employee commences duty after January 1 of any year his/her remuneration for the purposes of clause 23 must be the remuneration applying at the time of his/her commencement of duty.

23.4 If an employee's employment is terminated prior to 31 December in any year, he/she is entitled in respect of recreation leave for the period up to the date of termination of employment, to pro-rata payment of the amount payable under clause 23.1 for the number of completed months of continuous service in that year.
