20. WAGES AND RELATED MATTERS
20.1 Juniors who are younger than 21 years of age and who are employed in the classifications in the Table below:

20.2 National Training Wage: The terms of the National Training Wage Award 1994 [as varied from time to time] will apply to the Trainee Administrative Service Officer at the level equivalent to Skill Level A.
20.3 The minimum rates of pay in this award include the arbitrated safety net adjustment payable under the April 1997 and April 1998 Safety Net Review – Wages decisions [Prints P1997 and P1998].
20.4 Transitional: Where an employee was employed by Airservices Australia immediately prior to 14 February 2000, that employee may be eligible for a higher rate in accordance with Schedule A – Transitional Provisions.

20.5 Classifications and rates of pay: Employees performing work within the classifications listed in the tables in this clause will be paid annual salary at no less than the minimum rate applicable as set out in Table 20.5(a) below:

1. Aviation Firefighter Pay Point 1 – The minimum entry standard is as follows: Year 10 certificate or equivalent qualification; possession of a current heavy vehicle licence; and possession of a first aid certificate. In addition, to be eligible for Pay Point 2 below, a person shall have achieved a written record of attainment from a training establishment duly accredited by The Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) for the following modules from the Australian Fire Competency Modular Training Framework: Certificate 11 in Firefighting Operations; Health and Fitness, Personal Protection Level 1, Occupational Stress, Vehicle Rescue, Casualty Assistance, Emergency Care, Work Team Communication, Emergency Life Support Techniques, Dangerous Substances 1.
2. Aviation Firefighter Pay Point 2 – A person who enters at Pay Point 1 above, and who has achieved the statement of attainment from a training establishment accredited by ANTA for the Australian Fire Competency Training Framework, shall progress to the second pay point in the salary structure from the next full pay period following the date of the written module assessment record of attainment is issued by the employer for the following modules from Certificate 11 in Firefighting Operations (Entry Level): preparation cleaning and maintenance of Equipment, Appliances and Facilities, Alarms and Sprinklers, Occupational Hazards, Building Structures, Urban Fire Suppression, Search and Rescue, Open Circuit Breathing Apparatus, Fire Services Awareness 1, Salvage and Overhaul, Ventilation, Aviation Fire Suppression.
3. Aviation Firefighter Pay Point 3 – Aviation Rescue and Firefighting personnel who have attained a written statement that they have been assessed for and achieved all modules for the Certificate 11 in Firefighting Operations and who have also attained a written statement of their achievement of the modules of the Certificate 111 in Firefighting Operations listed below, shall progress to the third pay point, from the next full pay period following the date the written module assessment record is issued by the employer: Driving Vehicles 1, Communication Systems, Computer Skills,Workplace Communications, Inspect and Test Equipment, Operate Pumps, Operate Life Support Equipment, Personal Protection 1, Occupational Hygiene and Fire Prevention 1. N.B. Inshore Rescue Boat and Launch and Operate Inshore Rescue Boat are location specific modules and are not required for advancement to the next pay points.
4. Aviation Firefighter Pay Point 4 – Rescue and Firefighting personnel who have attained the qualifications for pay point 3, and who in addition have attained a written statement of attainment for the modules in the Certificate 111 level of the Firefighting – Aviation Operations Qualified Firefighter listed below, shall progress to the fourth pay point from the next full pay period following the date the written module assessment record is issued by the employer: Drive Vehicles On Road, Drive Vehicles Off Road, Building Stucures 11, Structural Fire Behaviour, Foam/Water Vehicle, Fire Agency Awareness 11 and Present Information (Public Education).
5. Aviation Firefighter Pay Point 5 – Rescue and Firefighting personnel who have attained the qualifications for pay point 4, and who in addition have attained a written statement of attainment for the modules in the Certificate 111 in Firefighting Operations Qualified Firefighter, as are listed below, shall progress to the fifth pay point from the next pay period following the date the written module assessment record is issued: Detection and Suppression Systems, Building Evacuation Systems, Mechanical Venting and Air Handling. Fire Suppression 2, and Administration 1.
