22. MEAL BREAKS

22.1 An employee who works five ordinary hours or more on any day shall receive an unpaid meal break of between 30 and 60 minutes duration. Provided that the meal break referred to shall be given and taken so that no employee shall work more than five consecutive hours without a meal break

22.2 The length of the meal break shall be determined by mutual agreement with the employee or, in the absence of such agreement, shall be 60 minutes duration.

22.3 An employee shall receive an additional unpaid meal break of between 30 and 60 minutes duration when they have worked a further five hours or more from the completion of the previous meal break.

22.4 Should an employee work through a break as prescribed in this clause, the employee should be entitled to be paid overtime rates until released for such meal/rest break, as appropriate.
