Gender pay equity research: update from the President

05 Dec 2023
Body

The President has issued a statement announcing stage 2 of the Commission’s gender pay equity research project.

Stage 1 of the project was a report called Gender-based Occupational Segregation: A National Data Profile produced by the Social Policy Research Centre at the University of New South Wales. The stage 1 report identified 13 awards used to set pay in 29 large, highly feminised occupations.

Stage 2 of the project will examine the history of 12 of the 13 awards in order to aid the identification of any indicia of gender undervaluation. The stage 2 report will be published in April 2024 and parties will be able to make submissions about it and the Stage 1 Report as part of the Annual Wage Review 2023-24 submission process.

The Commission is also working to provide access to Australian Industrial Relations Commission 2008 award modernisation documents through our document search function. We anticipate award modernisation documents will be available to the public in early 2024.
