Deputy President O’Neill has issued a statement publishing a work and care literature review prepared by the Western Sydney University.
The literature review provides an overview of the workplace relations settings within modern awards that impact employees when balancing work and care. This initiative is part of the work and care stream of the Modern Awards Review 2023-24.
The release of the work and care literature review was previously announced in President Justice Hatcher’s 4 October 2023 statement. The literature review is published in accordance with the scheduled timetable for the Modern Awards Review 2023-24.
Scope of the literature review
The work and care literature review analyses existing scholarly and grey literature to identify key findings and trends regarding work and care. It explores research into the relationships between modern awards and employees’ ability to manage their work alongside caring responsibilities, providing an overview of the current landscape.
Consultation
The literature review has been published to help guide the consultation process and promote a discussion on balancing work and care in the context of workplace relations settings in modern awards.
Deputy President O’Neill is holding consultations on 3 and 4 April and 9 and 10 April.
