Statement of principles discussion paper released

06 Feb 2023
Body

Today we issued a discussion paper regarding the Statement of Principles on Genuine Agreement.

This follows the statement which was issued by Acting President Hatcher on 30 January 2023, confirming the timeline for developing the Statement of Principles.

It relates to the new requirement for the Commission to make a statement of principles for employers on ensuring that employees have genuinely agreed to an enterprise agreement. The enterprise bargaining and enterprise agreement approval amendments will commence on 6 June 2023 at the latest.

The paper has been designed to promote discussion and help the consultation process to make the Statement of Principles.

It poses a series of questions which will guide consultation, including the discussion of parties at conferences to take place on 14 and 15 February 2023.

We are committed to implementing changes to the enterprise bargaining and enterprise agreement approval processes in an open and transparent way and with the needs of our users in mind. We encourage active involvement from all interested parties.
