This statement has been prepared in response to media inquiries received by the Registered Organisations Commission on 3 August 2022.
The ROC’s investigation into the AWU’s membership records which commenced on 17 February 2021 remains active and is expected to be completed this month. Since our statement of 7 April 2022, the ROC has continued its detailed analysis of AWU records and has also continued its engagement with the AWU about both the nature and specific number of contraventions of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009.
In accordance with the ROC’s usual practice, the ROC will make further comment about the outcome of its investigation following the Commissioner’s consideration of any recommendations made by the investigation.
