The National Tertiary Education Industry Union (NTEU) is a union of employees connected to the tertiary or higher education industry. Find details of their rules and governance.
About the NTEU
Financial year: 1 July to 30 June
Date of registration: 18 November 1986
The organisation consists of 52 branches - far more than any other organisation. Each branch is a reporting unit, however, every year the branches apply for certificates under section 271 of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 (no financial affairs in a financial year). Once a section 271 certificate is granted a branch does not need to submit a financial report.
The organisation is divided into Divisions in each state, and further divided into Branches. The organisation, its Divisions and Branches are also divided into Sections.
The organisation is governed by a National Council and a National Executive and by State Divisions and Branches.
Elections across the organisation are conducted every 1, 2 and 4 years. These elections are conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission.
