Fair Work Commission President Justice Hatcher and Vice Presidents Asbury and Gibian have today proposed making a road transport contractual chain order. The order proposed includes rules about fuel cost recovery in contractual chains in the road transport industry. Work in the cash in transit industry is excluded from the proposed order.
The proposal follows a 3-day hearing of a joint emergency application by the Transport Workers' Union of Australia (TWU) and the Australian Road Transport Industrial Organization (ARTIO).
A conference will take place before Vice President Asbury on Thursday 16 April 2026.
A further hearing will take place before the Expert Panel on Friday 17 April 2026.
Workers, businesses and other stakeholders have until 12 noon (AEST) on 17 April 2026 to make a written submission about the draft order.
