Zombie agreements that are not yet terminated will automatically terminate (sunset) on 7 December 2023 unless you apply for and are granted an extension.

There are a large number of workplace agreements that were made before 2010.
These agreements are known as ‘zombie’ agreements.
The Secure Jobs, Better Pay Act automatically terminates these agreements on 7 December 2023 if the agreement has not already been terminated before this time. This is known as ‘sunsetting’.
Many zombie agreements have been replaced or superseded but were never terminated.
Some employers and employees may not want their zombie agreements to be terminated. You can apply to extend a zombie agreement.
