You need our permission to change your registered organisation's rules. Changes don't take effect until we approve them.
The Fair Work (Registered Organisation) Act 2009 (the RO Act) sets the requirements for changing rules.
Different parts of the Act apply, depending on what you are changing.
- Eligibility rules need approval from a Presidential Member or the General Manager (sections 158 and 158A of the RO Act).
- All other rules need approval from the General Manager or their Delegate (section 159 of the RO Act).
The process to change rules
Each registered organisation (RO) has its own process to follow.
First, follow the procedures in your RO's rules. You can find the current rules at Find a registered organisation.
Then, fill out the form that relates to your change and submit it to the Commission.
